Detailed overview of Dukascopy API order and positions with stop loss and take profit

Complete overview of Dukascopy API order and positions with stop loss and take profit

I wondered what exit strategies people use in their trading. I posted this on various Facebook entities I administer. I posted this:

Who uses either stop loss and/or take profit only on their exits only? What other techniques have you used in an automated trading setting?

I got these comments:

I use trailing stops on nearly all trades… I break up my sells and trail stops a little different for each block… I don’t automate trading – I wish I could learn it, but its too much for me to learn by myself…

always have a limit order for exit, it’s the only way you can predict your losses therefore have a strategy, if you don’t cap your losses how can you have a profitable strategy?

I am interested to know what you use. I had many dialogues over this but things may have changed since then.

I also posted this video lately regarding the API. If you missed the memo, I have found Visual JForex can generate really ugly Java code as part of your strategy. In fact, I would consider it even useless or beginners if they want to advance their own programming skills.

Right now, I am focused on the stop losses right now for exit strategies. As a result, I made a video on this as usual. Also, note that I do plan to use regression for entry as hinted in another previously sent video as well. In short, just take a look at my most recent videos found in my Dukascopy playlist on my Youtube.com/quantlabs channel.

I got deep on these different scenarios which means I will use various techniques for my exit strategy needs https://quantlabs.net/blog/2017/09/complte-overview-of-dukascopy-api-order-and-positions-with-stop-loss-and-take-profit/
Remember I got my affordable video course series on these topics if you want to learn what I am applying here with Dukascopy.

From Sean:

Can you please confirm how much the 2 for 1 offer is and how many years it is for?

From JH
I have to be honest with you here,

I’ve been looking at your emails and I’m genuinely interested in the topics you’re exploring, but charging people $100/month for snippets of information that require’s constant monitoring and participation is a big, resounding no way. I don’t have time for that, and it’s a very poor way to learn a topic.

I would be interested in purchasing the contents of your articles and code examples if they were available, but the way you run your business by destroying content is a very serious drawback, one that prevents me from taking you seriously. How does anyone know what content you have available? How does anybody know your content us valid and useful? How does anyone know it is correct?

The very thing I’m looking for, a reference guide with examples, seems to be the opposite of what you’re really providing. I’m looking for a reference library of textbook like information, not a magazine.

Imagine if college textbooks worked on a subscription basis where chapter 1 becomes permanently unavailable when chapter 4 is released? As a former college physics teacher, I guarantee that student with a subscription will have a much more difficult time learning than the one who buys the textbook, and will eventually give up.

This is in part why textbooks are so expensive. I would never argue that you ought to just give your content away, but I can’t help but wonder aloud in an e-mail to you if a subscription model isn’t actually limiting your sales instead of helping. Just add up how much you could make from getting the relatively small subgroup of people willing to pay for a subscription, vs. how much you could make selling a series of books to a much much larger target market via Amazon or the like. If you can offer a library of your text and examples, and run a regular sort of blog where you review the various methods and offer your opinions on them, I would buy your series of books.

Think of it this way; if you were to take the entire content of your site from beginning to end, divide the content into a series of books that cover all the topics, then calculate how much a person would have spent on a subscription to get all the content and divide that amount by the number of books. You will reach a larger audience, and make the same amount as a subscription, if not more because of the increased pool of consumers.

You could make a lot more money this way, and not put off rationals like myself who see sales pressure and gimmicks as a sign of illegitimacy. I’m a skilled technical writer, and I could help you write these books if you are interested.

Detailed analysis of 8 long short pairs for trading arbitrage

Detailed analysis of 8 long short pairs for trading arbitrage

IMPORTANT NOTE: It looks like I mixed up my short and long!! (see below)

This was the original but see the correct combo below:

These are mixed results but definitely the rules need tightening up as described in the video

Out of 32 potential pairs, added positions for:

SLG EQY

PLT MSCI

VSH ON ß wrong

AWK SBS <- tight but may work

UCTT CEVA -> traditionally long performed better but short recently outperform

TRNO MNR -> traditionally short outperformed but long recent outperformed

NNI V

Conditions for entry is Each stock must have SMA 20 > SMA 200 and ratio of each close > trendline 20

Here is the proper order of the short and long!

Short=SLG long=EQY

PLT MSCI

VSH ON ß wrong

AWK SBS <- tight but may work

UCTT CEVA -> traditionally long performed better but short recently outperform

TRNO MNR -> traditionally short outperformed but long recent outperformed

Detailed description of this Full Demo of an HFT trading system Online Meetup Feb 10

Detailed description of this Full Demo of an HFT trading system Online Meetup Feb 10
Planned demo is an introduction of low-cost high-performing HFT trading platform developed by a Canadian company specifically for high-frequency high-volume algorithmic trading for stocks, FX and futures. The product is a complete solution that includes all components typically required for HFT trading – like FIX gateways, direct market data feed handlers, trading engine, order entry server, monitoring console. It also has multi-user functionality allowing multiple traders to control their own strategies that can be hosted on different trading engines in different locations. For the sake of performance the entire platform is written in C++ and it runs on Windows.

The demo will include brief overview of typical requirements to HFT platform, brief description of typical algos that require HFT technology, overview of the platform and its API, demonstration of a development cycle using the API.

The indented auditory – professional traders/quants who are in need of HFT technology because of specifics of their algos and who know how to write code (preferably in C++ or C#) or who can provide specification of their algo(s) to a software developer for implementation. C++ API exposed by the platform is quite simple and it does require much proficiency from a developer.

Some preliminary information about the technology can be found here: http://www.low-latency.net/
Supporting documentation with examples can be downloaded from this link using “guest” login/pwd: ftp://207.251.85.50/

Why were some videos pulled? ALso lots of affiliates trying to create useless selling links of  this product:

Is this the legit user guide?

When you Google ‘FAP Turbo source code’, it seems there a scammy sites to promote these links. I did even see one on Mql5.com where user stated that you should never have to buy an Expert Advisor for Metatrader 4. This appears to make it a potential scam.

Have fun

Quant analytics basics: Detailed and easy to understand Youtube video on what is linear regression?

As I start breaking down a few R scripts, this linear regression concept got confusing for us those that are weak minded in Math. Here is very good video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocGEhiLwDVc

I find Bionic Turtle really good in breaking down what appears to be a difficult concept but it is not when you watch this.
