Is Apple Swift ready for the enterprise?

Is Apple Swift ready for the enterprise?

There are mixed responses on this but it sounds like the painful conversion between major Swift versions if over.

I will also I like what I see with the Swift Sandbox for IBM cloud solutions so there may be some potential there

SciChart for IOS does not support Apple Mac OS with Swift

SciChart for IOS does not support  Apple Mac OS

In the next few months, I will be attacking a on developing a GUI for this system on Swift for both both Apple Mac OS and iOS. Response from an employee was:

Thank you for replying back to us!
No, we do not support MacOs at the moment.
So the only 2 charting libraries that support both is NChart3d which is $1300. I find this steep since I was not impressed with their library demo which means it could be a waste of money.

The other options is open source project which I deployed with success: https://github.com/danielgindi/Charts
Note: I am hoping to replace my Analytics charting with Swift apps

Hello World with Package Manager

https://swift.org/getting-started/#installing-swift

swift package init

Understand Package manager

https://swift.org/package-manager/#conceptual-overview

Also from my Stackoverflow query

It seems Apple changed this line:

swift build -X

This no longer works to create an Xcode project as described here

Doest anyone know the updated way to do this as I cannot find it online

Now you should use the Swift Package Manager.

To create a project structure:

swift package init --type executable

or

swift package init --type library

To make a project compatible with Xcode:

swift package generate-xcodeproj

Because of this command to create an XCode project, goto
https://github.com/OpenKitten/MongoKitten

git clone https://github.com/OpenKitten/MongoKitten
swift package generate-xcodeproj

You can now build the project from within Xcode but if you modify a new Package.swift with:

import PackageDescription

let package = Package(
name: "MongoKittenTest",
dependencies: [
.Package(url: "https://github.com/OpenKitten/MongoKitten.git", majorVersion: 2, minor: 0)
]
)

You need to run ‘swift build’ in a terminal within the sources directory to include the modules as part of the build process. You get an error like ‘No such module…’

You could create main.swift in Sources folder with source code:
import Foundation
import MongoKitten

When you in a terminal in the Source folder:

ryans-MacBook-Pro:MongoKittenTest quantlabsnet$ swift build
Compile Swift Module 'MongoKittenTest' (2 sources)
Linking ./.build/debug/MongoKittenTest
bryans-MacBook-Pro:MongoKittenTest quantlabsnet$ ./build/debug/MongoKittenTest
-bash: ./build/debug/MongoKittenTest: No such file or directory
