With inflows stagnant, the number of new firms has plummeted.

Overall, firms’ assets are barely growing. Net inflows since the end of 2016 have equaled just $7.8 billion.

“We’re seeing lots of hiring for outsourced compliance activity,” said Frank Carr, an independent Wall Street recruiter with MJE advisors.

 

MF Global just put 1600 people out on the job market. Don’t expect them to get hired in 2011. Other recently laid off Wall Street employees will have a tough time too.
