Is this the magical line to get you started with Python SciPy on Ubuntu Linux?
See the video below to see it working:
*** This path has now been abandoned at my end. I have no futher confidence to continue with this. Enjoy Linux and Python lovers as I choose no longer to part of the party.
MORE UPDATES: So I replaced the VirtualBox junk with a real virtual environment called VMWare Workstatopm. What a difference so I am back to the positive. SEE
BELOW!
They may not like us any Windows as my previous attempts kind of went nowhere but Linux maybe the key. Who knew. DOn’t forget your VirtualBox for host Linux on your host.
I shall report back here if this works as instructed here:
http://www.scipy.org/install.html
sudo apt-get install python-numpy python-scipy python-matplotlib ipython ipython-notebook python-pandas python-sympy python-nose
Because of my continued successes here, I decided to install Sypder with: https://pythonhosted.org/spyder/installation.html
- Requirements: sudo apt-get install python-qt4 python-sphinx
- Installing: sudo pip install spyder
- Updating: sudo pip install -U spyder
Finally run Anaconda with: http://askubuntu.com/questions/505919/installing-anaconda-python-on-ubuntu
wget http://09c8d0b2229f813c1b93-c95ac804525aac4b6dba79b00b39d1d3.r79.cf1.rackcdn.com/Anaconda-2.0.1-Linux-x86_64.sh
And after download is finished do:
bash Anaconda-2.0.1-Linux-x86_64.sh
Update: http://docs.continuum.io/anaconda/
conda update conda
conda update anaconda
You can verify your Python modules packages by doing:Â http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3952513/python-get-available-modules
ALl the steps above included pip for install of packages but no matplotlib or pandas. Let’s see…
This seems to work ok http://pandas.pydata.org/pandas-docs/stable/install.html
conda install pandas
Somehow I got all the major packages installed including pandas, numpy, and matplotlib. Does this mean I am ready to go in Python?
