DOTNET FSharp to crack top 10 programming languages

DOTNET FSharp to crack top 10 programming languages

From Tiobe:

Microsoft’s programming language F# is about to sneak into the top 10. It is not clear why F# is gaining popularity. Possible reasons might be the F# web-programming framework WebSharper and the promotional work of the F# Software Foundation as Tomas Petricek (author of “F# Deep Dives”) stated in an interview about 2 weeks ago. Another interesting move this month: CoffeeScript enters the top 100 for the first time.

Where’s GO? Where’s Julia? Nowhere to be seen so why waste your time?

Do I really need to say anymore suckah?

Sad comparision of programming languages for trading

Sad comparision of programming languages for trading

Lordy Lordy Lordy.

A Comparison of Programming Languages

Dude, you forget a few things!

Sweet Lord, this guy does not mention any .NET languages like C# or fast growing F#. That is ok as I will leave it to your imagination to research those. ALso,, he forget to mention about the code generating capabilitie of MATLAB Coder or Simulink into C++, C, or HDL to FPGA for ultra lowest latency. Or better yet the capabilities with either Builder JA or Builder NE. Of course, there is Matlab Production Server. So he is an expert now? Really?

The sad reality of serious limitations of open source programming languages like R or Python? Boom failed project! Hello DoTNET FSharp

The sad reality of serious limitations of open source programming languages like R or Python? Boom failed project! Hello DoTNET FSharp

This is why I stick with my project but this is a real world tech issue some PHD students face on their research.  They are also NOT FUTURE PROOF! Just saying..
Sorry Bryan but my issues with R extension class utility with my code has remained unresolved with current R Core Team Developers.   Whats’ more I probably will have to use this code for part of my revamped focus in my graduate studies…

BTW
If you’re looking for some exposure to more algorithm
ic traders there’s quite a bit of these in California’s Bay Area Meetup groups, and most likely some would-be quant developers as well.

Thanks for the tip. I find this challenege you sad. I am not sure if you would have the same problem within .NET like F#. I don’t know but good luck. Also, you can embed R scripts into F# via a project called RProivider. Thanks for the tip.

ATT Python and C++ coders: What you think of these programming languages for automated trading and quant research

ATT Python and C++ coders: What you think of these programming languages for automated trading and quant research

We will be going full hog on experimenting with these languages in coming weeks. We need to need invest the time to see how serious of a potential these languages bring for our needs in quant research and advanced automated trading. We are looking for advocates for these languages to consult on when needed. This process could lead to our foundation of an inner core team as we scale out our trading operation over the next few months. We will be seriously privately funded for our initial steps so this could lead to potential long term consulting gigs. This is a serious gig but we are only looking for very serious people who know these technologies on an expert level. If you want to do an open Q&A Meetup session for our members, let me know as this is a great test to see what kind of chops you can bring to the table. We are not looking for those just seeking to collect paychecks. We want advocates and evangelists  on this stuff so nothing less. We are not seeking boring resumes and past accomplishments, we want to see what you can deliver over the next few months!! Get in touch by commenting below.

Do note we have easier ways to find these types of people with the glut of technologists out there looking for work. We want to see what you got in the public forum so reach out if interested.

Thanks Bryan

How to manage all these programming languages to build a profitable quant trading model or strategy

How to manage all these programming languages to build a profitable quant trading model or strategy

Question:

Also, I have been trying to work on this model which I have been having a bit of difficulty with. ….

I tried using R initially to test this strategy but I started to struggle with the code so I then started using Excel. If you are able to test the strategy on MatLab I would be very grateful for the code so I can introduce it on my Octave software (or even excel would be helpful).

I look forward to becoming a quantlabs.net elite member as I really want to continue developing my quant knowledge. Im fed up with getting stuck with bits of code.

Thank you for any help you can give me

Microsoft Excel for quant or high frequency trading ? Priority of open source trading platforms, programming languages to learn

Hi there

1. It seems there are a few people who are using less advanced tools like MS Excel and VBA to do their trading development or build a HFT environment. I did a brief article on a query from someone about it. Go here.
3. Here is another Top 10 whichs seems to resonate with people:
Just a side note, members make this happen where I can continue FREE pumping all this love and generosity of my sharing of software tools for quants, hedge fund start ups, etc.
This is why I am constistently pushing to get people to –> sign up to the QuantLabs.net Premium Member <– to carry this mission of development and profitable trading strategies on the tools built. Benefits of this are always listed here.
Got questions, so let me know
Bryan
