Could Ocaml be new language for algo trading

After posting this article last week

Writing computer code, or at the least being conversant in the firm’s program of choice, OCaml, is a requisite for all traders. Indeed, new traders must complete a monthlong OCaml boot camp before they start trading.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/23/business/dealbook/a-new-breed-of-trader-on-wall-street-coders-with-a-phd.html?emc=edit_dlbkam_20160223&nl=dealbook&nlid=74450645&ref=dealbook&_r=1

Then I had this dialogue with a real algo trading firm:

Brian, good article, moved some of my Python code to Ocaml late last year

Bryan, the part I moved improved it run time by 20% (vs Python and C++)

It was a large math section of code

C++ was slower than using Ocaml

yes, you can covert python code to Ocaml

Anyone out there who has any further knowledge of this?

NOTE I now post my TRADING ALERTS into my personal FACEBOOK ACCOUNT and TWITTER. Don't worry as I don't post stupid cat videos or what I eat!
