I resume my ‘Phase 2’ of my Algo Trading Course Series I started in March. After completing the “Infrastructure Building Blocks” and “Equity Arbitrage/Pair Trading”, it is time to focus on learning both futures and options trading. Get more details here:

https://quantlabs.net/blog/python-algo-course-series-for-your-indie-automated-trading-business/

This new Phase that will be taught is a 24-week section which covers many fundamental aspects of these asset classes. We will focus on examples as we mirror my favorite UC Davis course that focuses on fundamental analysis. I also provide both C++ and Python coding samples throughout this course. The main idea of these presentations is to learn further on these topics outside of the course material.

Our topic for this day is:

History and Introduction to Futures/Options Algorithms

Introduction to Volatility Trading the Meetup

Introduction to Volatility Trading Meetup

I need to congratulate Sholom, our next presenter, on his topic of “introduction to volatility trading”. If you have not seen his video, I would highly encourage you to see it but he will expand on this topic during our live Meetup on February 22.

Initial demo of a technical analysis trading Python script

As you know, I’m not a firm believer in using technical analysis for exclusively making your trading decisions. I do believe that it can be used to time your trades quite well. You can also use a variety of other metrics that I have blogged about over the last few weeks. Lucky for me, I have found a decent Python script which does all the popular indicators so I made a video on my thoughts. It also highlights how this can be very powerful in helping to automate your trading decisions.

Check out this video here

In coming weeks, I will be putting out further videos on using all these indicators for signal generation while automating your trades. It will get very very exciting indeed. The sad part is that no human trader can process all of this in scale as an algo based trading system can.

I’m hoping later in the week I can start itemizing a LIVE course structure with dates for you to get excited about. Just one more reason to join my Quant Elite membership before this gets all started

Introduction to Evolutionary Trading Framework

Intro to Evolutionary Trading Framework

I was quite surprised to see how popular this video has become among all my readers. It is all about evolutionary learning which takes us outside of the normal realm of trading. In fact it seems to be on the fringes like machine learning which is yet to be proven over a length of time. Is this sort of video similar to machine learning? Do let me know.

Screw China econometric data and Quandl?

So I have finished two Python scripts that focuses on both the US and Europe. I’m hoping you have seen both videos by now. So that leaves us to the next major region of the world which is China. Due to it being under a command and control economy, this is also another way of saying this is not true capitalism nor is it fully transparent. As a result I have no confidence in playing in the country until confidence can be built up from within. But could probably take decades so I’m not holding my breath.

Also I’d like to talk about market data, it seems that Quandl was thought to be reliable but in fact it seems all the important data is now being charged on a monthly basis. The actual cost makes it not feasible to consider on the monthly basis.

As a result, check out my other reasons for both China and Quandl here

Which time and day works best of LIVE learning automated trading

I also need to stress that in coming weeks I will be holding live webinar “classes” on building out this Python-based trading system. I am running a survey to find out what Day and time works best for most people but who may be interested in learning this live from me. This is critical you participate in order set a permanent time and day of week.

Go here for the survey

Thanks for reading

Bryan
