More FAQ about algo trading and your full time job

Someone asked about important risk of replacing their job with also trading. Here are the queries in this video:

I just recently started going through your QuantLabs website, and am keen on going through the training. Few quick questions I have:

1. Is it more for short term day trading?
2.Reason am asking, because wondering if it would be suitable for me working full time?
3.Does your methodology allow to test trade with paper money?
4.I have never worked as programmer, but have learned C and Pascal programming, and current role using SQL. Do you recommend I go through your NEW Course on Dukascopy Visual JForex for NON programmers for algo forex trading video?

Another good article from the NYC Conact, he saoid (I think):

If Physics worked like Finance, we would all be levitating since 1687. As soon as Newton would have published his Principia, things would have begun to float around us, and nobody would have been able to verify his equations through experimentation.

An FAQ from a potential subscriber about QuantLabs.net Premium Membership

An FAQ from a potential subscriber about QuantLabs.net Premium Membership

Someone asked about being a potential QL Premium members:

Bryan,

I’ve watched some of your videos and considered subscribing to your site. However, I have some concerns.

1.  I see many links “free premium membership” but I click the link and I don’t see any free premium membership. I don’t like bait and switch games: it makes me less likely to buy any of your services. Can give me the link for free premium membership?

Free? You serious? I don’t bait and switch. I am not selling used cars. As for these links you question, please provide them and I will look into them. I do research and advanced trading technologies and potential profitable strategies for people both from student to pro. I have built trading infrastructures based on free open source. I am weak at math and spent many months researching the basics. I have over 14000 postings on this site from the last 2 years. I put all this in my Membership section which funds all of this stuff to continue what I do. Simple concept I think.

2. You’ve obviously been working on this HFT stuff for several years but it sounds like you haven’t any deployed 1 strategy into even a paper trading account. Come on! Why should I should pay you a dime when you aren’t trading your real money? You honestly don’t seem to a very successful quant or HFT trader.

Ok read the answer to your first question. I am not an idiot who just follows green and red arrows like the suckers who use platforms like Vector Vest. I have also met profressional ‘quants’ who don’t I spend an exhaustive amount of time to understand every single line of code as well as the math so it takes a long time. I am currently looking into the best free R packages to start implementing real live trading strats. As for spending a dime, that is your call but I got over 27% of my visitors who are willing to spend over $100/month for what I do now. http://quantlabs.net/surveys/

Once I get to profitable strategies, this same service will start reaching over $1000/month which will be targeted to large institutional traders who are part of my private network. If you want to question this, that is your call not mine. I don’t hold a gun to your head.  I am doing just fine with people signing up daily as they want to learn as I start to ramp up what works and what does not in all levels of advanced trading including HFT. As for trading results, I am not there yet. I would easily be promoting the results and I would not be offering the rates I offer now. That is why they are very low!!

3.  Do you have any strategies that apply to futures? How do you know your strategies are worth anything when you haven’t tested them? Everyone knows about pairs trading. What do you have that is worthwhile?

I am right now focusing on forex just like everyone else. I plan to put futures as my number 2 market asset. I can never guarantee when that will happen. As said, I will be testing strategies/R packages and also depend on those companies or authors who stand behind them. Once things start to show profit, I can guarantee the disgustingly low rates will not stay where they are.

Look forward to your answers.. they will determine if I sign up for your services or decide to pass.

As you can tell, I am pretty transparent on what I do. I am always responding to people like your self via email and popular social media outlets. I hope this helps you decide on what you want to do with your future. If you want to help continue my development for your potential future, things will work out if not. You obviously have an interest in this otherwise you would be asking these questions. Also, if things never work out, you can always cancel very easily anytime you want. I will even help you at the Paypal end to help you get out quicker if you want. I have also removed whiners who expect millions on the cheap as they don’t seem to understand things are not that simple. Hope this helps answers all you’re your questions.

FAQ related to Indian Stock Exchanges

What are the various types of financial markets?

The financial markets can broadly be divided into money and capital market.

Money Market: Money market is a market for debt securities that pay off in the short term usually less than one year, for example the market for 90-days treasury bills. This market encompasses the trading and issuance of short term non equity debt instruments including treasury bills, commercial papers, bankers acceptance, certificates of deposits, etc.

Capital Market: Capital market is a market for long-term debt and equity shares. In this market, the capital funds comprising of both equity and debt are issued and traded. This also includes private placement sources of debt and equity as well as organized markets like stock exchanges. Capital market can be further divided into primary and secondary markets.

What is meant by Secondary Market?

Secondary Market refers to a market where securities are traded after being initially offered to the public in the primary market and/or listed on the Stock Exchange. Majority of the trading is done in the secondary market. Secondary market comprises of equity markets and the debt markets.

For the general investor, the secondary market provides an efficient platform for trading of his securities. For the management of the company, Secondary equity markets serve as a monitoring and control conduit—by facilitating value-enhancing control activities, enabling implementation of incentive-based management contracts, and aggregating information (via price discovery) that guides management decisions.

3. What is the difference between the primary market and the secondary market?

In the primary market, securities are offered to public for subscription for the purpose of raising capital or fund. Secondary market is an equity trading avenue in which already existing/pre- issued securities are traded amongst investors. Secondary market could be either auction or dealer market. While stock exchange is the part of an auction market, Over-the-Counter (OTC) is a part of the dealer market.
