Intoducing Hortonworks – The Next Generation of Apache Hadoop MapReduce
This presentation presents some loose details about the future of Hadoop as hortonworks sees it. This is important because one of the founders of hortonworks is Arun Murthy. Arun has been at Yahoo for a number of years focused on Hadoop. To say that Arun knows Hadoop would be somewhat of an understatement.
The big news to me here is that the limitations of Hadoop are finally being acknowledged and would seem that their in the process of being addressed. Especially if they could take Hadoop into the real of continuous query.
As I pointed out to the guys at backtype about Storm – everyone who knows anything about this space is going real time. I’ve watched that shift happen over the last two years – it started as a trickle, people said it was impossible. Look at the space now – the pace is mind boggling.
Take a look at the presentation – and let’s discuss!
Instructions on how to deploy a Java WAR folder into Apache Tomcat
1. If Tomcat is running, stop it by pressing Ctrl-C in the Command Prompt. I would backup the old war file before proceeding. Replace the war/zip in your virtual machine’s C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps
2. Remove the old expanded old WAR’s folder. You could expand into a new folder with the new WAR file.
3. In order to retest cleanly, I would suggest removing the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\work folder
Assume the name of a guest virtual machine is Zeus, so in your host browser navigate to zeus:8080/webapp. This is case sensitive. If you run into problems still with your browser, delete the browser’s complete cache. I have tested all major browsers and it seems ok
NOTE I now post myTRADING ALERTS into my personal FACEBOOK ACCOUNT and TWITTER. Don't worry as I don't post stupid cat videos or what I eat!
