I just opened a ticket to Interactive Broker for these questions regarding the title of this post. It focuses on changes in market price for crypto futures or options.
- Are new BTC micro options for CME available for Canadians? If not, when?
- Are continuous futures of BTC and ETH on CME similar to perpetual contracts? e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_futures
- To purchase a micro future, can I buy it for as little as 1/10 of the market price? Would, for example, it be 1/100 of the market price for a micro BTC or ETH option?
- Will it soon be possible to fund an account via Paypal or crypto?
I will post all the answers here once I get a response from Interactive Brokers support. It is still 24 hours later with no response! Effing Hell! IBKR is really bad with the same problems I am facing with customer service!
If this horrid service continues, I will move over to Cannon Trading which MotiveWave supports as they support options and futures:
Guess what??? These answers came in from IBKR during the recoding of negative review videos
We are not yet offering Micro Bitcoin futures and futures options however this functionality should be rolled to our retail clients out over the next few weeks.
Correct, continuous futures are similar to perpetual contracts in that it is not necessary to roll contracts. A “continuous futures” contract represents a sequence of successively expiring lead futures contracts along with an associated interval during which each future is the lead.
To trade in futures, all you will require is sufficient equity collateral in your account to meet the margin requirement of your desired position. You can verify the margin requirements for futures and futures options contracts by referring to the following link: https://www.
There are no immediate plans from IBKR management to allow funding via Paypal/crypto for our Canadian clients.
