Why I Stick with MYSQL over Postgres?
I may need to stick with my SQL over Postgres or SQL Server is due to a simple but dumb reason. As I plan to heavily travel overseas in the next few years, I anticipate I will need a remote server no different than web hosting. As I have looked around for various out of box database options, the only standard one is MySQL as opposed to Postgres SQL is a more expensive option. I will need this to connect into Trade Manager software which I have download a few months ago. MySQL is the standard database used for this powerful day trading software which is also open source. Also it appears that CentOS is the chosen Linux distribution.
In the last few months, my website has been hacked with major security enhancements for my Windows PC’s. It  Does become a royal pain to maintain as Norton and other unneeded software really slows down my system and makes it very lagging. You get kind of tired of having to face this situation every few months as you experiment with more software. As a result, I am looking towards a Mac environment with a backend running Linux. This obviously means to move away as much as possible from windows technology.  The real tough part is the stellar charting front in libraries you can use like infragistics. Lightning charts or devexpress. There is no doubt that this is where windows rain supreme for anything later around charting and trading software. As the world of Java seems to improve since 1.8, more software I choose is based around this this language. But it always comes down to coming back to good old MySQL but has said just browsing data and now a remote server is needed as well.
