Does the syntax and functions of R the same as Matlab as popular Apple Ipad scientific calc apps?

(Last Updated On: April 2, 2012)

Basic stuff I know, but does the syntax and functions of R the same as Matlab as popular Apple Ipad scientific calc apps?
For instance, if I need to intgrate with Matlab, I use the int() function but R is integrate(). If it comes out of a symbolic calc Ipad app, it would be the same as Matlab. I have confirmed various Matlab function are pretty close to being 100% compatible with a scientific calc app but not in R. What gives? Am I right in this  assumption.
