Data visualization fresh ideas for quant analytics?

Still a bit of a novice on visualization and tired of using Microsoft Excel. Only so much you can do there. Any recommendations for relatively inexpensive (or free) software to build out basic data visualization? Help!

Tableau is excel like and fantastic for visualizations. But not free, not too expensive though.

Beyond that, you are looking at programming and free libraries.

D3.js and protoviz are great with jsp
Python has a number of free libraries too
Then, there is always R and it’s plethora of packages.

Check out Microsoft’s Report Builder 3.0. It might not be as strong as some other packages but its free.

NOTE I now post my TRADING ALERTS into my personal FACEBOOK ACCOUNT and TWITTER. Don't worry as I don't post stupid cat videos or what I eat!
