First Course in Linear Algebra by Robert A. Beezer: My quant book review
This is book is a little strange with the author’s chapter section by letters instead of numbers. This book is also very very long with over 1000 pages. Outside of these items, I did find this book very useful with exercises and solutions. That is a first for me so it is kind of like a course. These are important elements when trying to learn the basic of anything like quant which starts with linear algebra. This book does focus on matrices/vectors and manipulation of between them. If you use a tool like Matlab or Mathematica, it should be a pretty transition to apply your knowledge. After I breezed through this book, I found that using a strategy of using YouTube’s Khan Academy (khanacademy.org) will be really helpful to drill down to the useful topics for quant learning. Most of the book does not apply but it does help when you start getting into more advanced concepts of quant. Another really useful is the PDF has hyperlink to all its theorems and definitions throughout the entire book.
