BlackRock (NYC) – TRADING SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

BlackRock is the largest investment management firm in the world, with $3.561 trillion in assets under management as of December 31, 2010. In addition to managing assets on behalf of institutional and individual investors worldwide, BlackRock provides risk management, financial advisory services, and investment system outsourcing through its BlackRock Solutions business. BlackRock Solutions (BRS) provides services to both BlackRock’s internal asset management team and a wide variety of best-in-class external clients. In all, $9 trillion in securities and derivatives are maintained on our systems.

To further enhance the services it provides, BRS expects to launch an internal trading platform later this year. The platform will ultimately allow BlackRock’s clients to cross trades and ultimately lower their trading costs. As such, BlackRock is actively building a product management and development team to help build this platform.

Key Responsibilities:
• Overall development lead for building the platform including designing and developing overall technical architecture
• Manage team of 3-6 developers
• Hands on development expected 25-50% of time
• Determine technical specifications to meet business requirements including GUI design
• Interact closely with traders and end users on functionality
• Facilitate testing, rollout and deployment of core functionality
• Communicate development status and issues to senior management
• Reviews and sign off on all code development
• Provide ongoing development, support, and maintenance of existing application functionality
Requirements:
• 10+ years of experience working on trading technology
• Extensive familiarity with industry leading electronic trading platforms including working knowledge on integrating with such platforms
• 3-5 years of experience managing trading development teams
• Hands on Java/J2EE development
• Buy side and sell side knowledgeable
• Extensive knowledge about fixed income, FX and other markets
• BA/BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related field.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills coupled with a strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing, team-based environment
• Experience working with global teams
Technical expertise in the following areas:
• Developing client/server and distributed systems
• Object-oriented analysis and design
• Java
• Enterprise messaging systems such as MQ and the like
• SYBASE
• XML and XSD
• ANT, Continuous Integration Tools, Unit testing, Subversion
• Spring
• Hibernate
• SWING
• FIX protoco
