Wow! 300 daily unique visitors. What is the future for this quant/stock tip based site??
This site was launched late April; I am already up to three hundred daily unique visitors now in late July. That is a nice steady trajectory of traffic. Although, this is not a quant topic, I thought would are my thoughts on this site. I have not done a lot off site internet marketing like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I never really meant it to be my primary source of income but I doubt that will change any time soon. There are many ways to achieve this.
As I have carefully analyzed this site over the months, I have started realizing what topics are the hot ones as well as sources of traffic. Here is what has happened, I have been blogging about my experiences with quant style job interviews with companies like Bloomberg, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Bank of Montreal, IBM, etc. There seems to be a huge interest in this especially from faraway places like India. As these companies do more online marketing for positions, it only increases my level hits for these topics on my blog posts.
Another nice stat I am find through my Google Analytics is that my bounce is super low. It is only about 3% and each reader is averaging about 2-3 minutes on this site. That is awesome but too bad I don’t have the numbers. I could easily take those stats for some advertising opportunities outside of Google Adwords.
Anyhow, as for the revenue side of this site, there is usual way to earn through Google Adsense. You are basically only earning less than five dollars a day which is enough to feed an African child. Not much as you know. There are some other revenue generating opportunities for developers like me. Of course, I could build some tools or applications and sell them online. I am also considering some other software to use as well. That is one idea going through my head.
Another is to build a software as a service, (SAAS). Here you, you start to build a service based on a membership or subscription basis. Whatever you build, it needs to be so compelling to keep people online as well so unique to build a steady membership over the life of the site. Is this possible? Sure. There are so many opportunities out there right now in the investment / financial business world. You could even dumb it down to more average people to understand what you are offering.

NOTE I now post my TRADING ALERTS into my personal FACEBOOK ACCOUNT and TWITTER. Don't worry as I don't post stupid cat videos or what I eat!
