Question just came from a potential QuantLabs.net Premium Member:

Hi Bryan,
Sounds great.
I am interested in the membership.
What does it provide exactly in regards to the tool you develop and the strategies that will be built?
Will members be able to freely access and use everything you build?
If members build and share strategies will there be refunds in exchange for that?
The webinar you mentioned, the one before the increase: is that for everyone, not just premium?

My answers

Hi Nick
Thanks for your questions!
Here are your answers:
What does it provide exactly in regards to the tool you develop and the strategies that will be built?
For those that don’t have Matlab, I will offer the Simulink model file, code generated C++ file ,and quite possibly the HDL. It just depends on the demand but everything will be provided. As you could, if this proves profitable, it will be highly prized thus the upcoming price increases.
Will members be able to freely access and use everything you build?
Of course and royalty free.
If members build and share strategies will there be refunds in exchange for that?
That is not a bad idea. I would definitely consider that but it depends how others feel in the membership. I may even close off the membership later in the year if it ‘becomes to good to be true’
The webinar you mentioned, the one before the increase: is that for everyone, not just premium?
Jan 7 is public and Jan 8 is for the Premium Membership

VHDL or Verilog in FPGA for High Speed Automated Trading and HFT?

VHDL or Verilog in FPGA for High Speed Automated Trading and HFT?

Your thoughts would be interesting to hear….

Either shouldn’t make a significant difference as both can produce the same level of performance and the fpga or whatever it goes into makes a much bigger impact.

Does High Speed Automated Trading have enough parallel transactions to make it worth while? I would think just a high end general CPUs to be better, but I guess if you analyze multiple trades as one instead of individually that could be interesting over a general CPU… or are you going to do the whole communications layer too to shave every ns.

I don’t know much about automated trading. But it is interested for me too hear about FPGA using in such tasks. Could you please describe more details about it? Thanks!

Its done down to the communication layer. Mind you, this is not my space, but I know people who do this and they shave everything. At a high frequency trading conference last year, the vendor booths were a mix of bandwidth pipe and FPGAs.
