Failed attempts of running IQFeed with Wine on Mac OSX
I tried running this but it failed. Here were my installation notes if you want to try. If you get it running, let me know.
Use Brew in terminal:
brew install wine
Note to be patient while Brew takes care of all local builds for you. Also ensure you have all the developer tools as indicated in the link as well! Let me repeat this: BE PATIENT VERY PATIENT!
Note how to run Window EXEs
Download IQFeed client:
For the IQFeed API you will only be able to use Java for support on Mac.
You should be able to run download: wine iqfeed_client_5_1_3_1.exe
This seems into install into a virtual directory of: c:\program files\DTN\IQFeed
Note in above link to run Windows program via WINE
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/
cd to /Users/quantlabsnet/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/DTN/IQFeed
bryans-MacBook-Pro:IQFeed quantlabsnet$ wine iqlink.exe
err:module:import_dll Library mfc100.dll (which is needed by L”C:\\Program Files\\DTN\\IQFeed\\iqlink.exe”) not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L”C:\\Program Files\\DTN\\IQFeed\\iqlink.exe” failed, status c0000135
I gave up on the above steps so I followed the steps in this Youtube video
Download from: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/
When downloading this Wine, see below for which version is best at the time of writing.
Note I removed the previous Wine version as instructed in the first link
Follow the EXACT TIPS in the Youtube video for it to work on your IQFeed install EXE
When running unkown Mac apps, you may get an OSX warning with:
When tyring to install IQFeed download client, it may get stuck at ‘Execute vcredist_X86_20112u…’ but let it proceed as it should complete execution of install
After install, you will have your User-> Wine Files->drive_c->Programs->DTN->iqconnect.exe
These can take Wine a long to execute as is.
You can manually run the EXE from the Wine Bottle Icon at the top to navigate your ../Programs/DTN directory
Note that Wind 1.6 did not seem to work but I am on OS X El Capitan so I resorted to Wine 1.8
None of the installed IQFeed apps were able to run. I managed to run the out of box Explorer but not the Windows Media app.
In conclusion: This is to flakey to run dependable Windows programs
