Interactive Brokers and Forex trading platforms

Question from a newsletter subscriber

Hi,  Bryan
I have a question,
do I have to use certain brokers if you join
It seems that everything is developed for interactive brokers?
So the best choice will be interactive broker,  right?   (Minimum deposit is 10000USD,  so the optimum amount will at least 50000 USD it seems?, it seems too much when try out something new.)
You need to fund the account with 10K but can take it out a big chunk later. I verified that with an executive at IB Canada. I would not worry about the minimum you need for optimal purposes. You start out from the small amount you can afford.
Can I use dukascopy  or metatrader 4 (for forex)?
I still think IB is the king for any asset class including Forex.
ALso all the modern popular platforms like Quantopian use it. It seems Dukascopy or Oanda are OK as they do support Java.As for Metatrader, it is ok but you will hit limitations so this is why I attack this automation trading with my own source code.
